Introducing HDS
Hosted Data Services (HDS) is a self-managed service provided by ITR that allows schools and administrative units to enhance the value and accuracy of their databases.
Through using HDS, data can be maintained and shared more efficiently and effectively ensuring data remains current and up-to-date.
HDS takes away concerns for lost and corrupted data by storing all data and applications in an central location protected by backup and recovery.
The service is easy to use and no programming experience is required. With a simple web browser staff can load Excel Spreadsheets and create reports in a matter of minutes.
The underlying technology used with HDS is Oracle Application Express (APEX).

HDS - Oracle Apex upgraded to V 4.1
APEX software in HDS production and development servers have been upgraded to version 4.1. The most exciting new feature is Data Upload where developers can easily add the capability for end user to load data into existing table within an application. Other features such the use of ROWID for updates, inserts and deletes as an alternative to specifying primary key are also supported.
APEX Print Server is configured
Finally, APEX print server is configured in our development and production environment using APEX FOP standard configuration and external software FO Designer to design report layout and generate XLS-FO code . The print server enables the pdf printing report and download within an applications. PDF printing documentation can be found here .
